Bridget Cunningham - Handel’s Queens

Rivalry, Jealousy, Catfights - the London press were fascinated by the arrival of two Italian sopranos in the early 18th century and set them up against each other.  Was this over-exaggeration or fact?

I caught up with Director of London Early Opera, Bridget Cunningham, to talk all about the making of Handel's Queens and the music written for Francesca Cuzzoni and Faustina Bordoni.  Fascinating story, wonderful singing, exquisite direction, the album was BBC Music Magazine's Recording of the Month in October 2019: "Handel has never sounded better".

Handel's Queens is on the Signum Classics Label (signumrecords.com)
